As I sit in my blanket cacoon of invincibility (which is honestly just a comforter to hide my campus plague ridden self) I realized holy Snapbacks December is almost here.
Now I’m am not a part of the Christmas hype train in the slightest. I enjoy the good vibes of the holiday season like most human beings, but I’m not about having holy jolly shoved in my face immediately after Halloween ends. So why am I excited for December? Soon enough (December 9th if I recall correctly) the webseries Couple-ish finally begins!
Couple-ish is a LGBT+ webseries written by the lovely Youtuber Kaitlyn Alexander who I met & respect immensely. Check out the trailer on YouTube because I’m a clumsy dweeb when it comes to summarizing things I’m excited or passionate about. But mostly there’s fake dating, lying to the government and an A+ diverse cast that I totally support.
Anywhoser. Where is Kristina going with this? Well, Couple-ish is actually one of the projects I supported on Kickstarter. And honestly, how fast the webseries reached its goal is one of my favorite things I’ve ever seen. Now I’ve always known about fundraising (never had a lemonade stand but I got the gist of it growing up) but now it’s quite incredible to see how many amazing products are the result of outstanding support on websites like Kickstarter. The impossible dreams aren’t so impractical with Kickstarter and now people get a chance to see more content that they want if they find the right projects to support.
It makes me happy to see that despite how insanely pricy it is to do anything these days, there is still hope for people who want to put creative content out into the world that hasn’t been done before.
Seeing people’s hard work becoming something real is one of the best things. It’s honestly one of the reasons I solidified my decision to change my plans for the future. There’s a plethora of opportunity out there once you stay True to what makes you happy. There are still Nos and road blocks, but sometimes those result in necessary changes to help make a person’s dream into the best result. In all honesty, I’m happy that I’ve grown up into this strange world of diverse chances for success and happiness. Despite some harsh words and undeserved initial disbelief, I’m gonna chase my dream.
But first, to get over this campus plague. Ugh.
