Well, this is it. This is coming to you from AFTER seemingly never ending flight from Dubai back to JFK. We were delayed because a passenger got sick before we could even take off and delayed us long enough for me to watch Big Hero 6 in its’ entirety (WHICH MIGHT I ADD IS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER AND I MAY HAVE GOTTEN A LOT A BIT EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS.) I’m currently back in the States and kind of just feeling bittersweet as I try to gather my thoughts.

Unforgettable moments cornier than Kansas (except for the goat sacrifice, that was definitely not corny)

There’s not many things that can really surprise me anymore after today’s nonsense. I never thought I’d experience the day where I’d be in a bus that’s going oddly fast for a vehicle supposed to be exercising caution on hairpin turns, but then again, that should have been my warning that this last full day in Agartala would be an adventure that I’ll ever forget.

Learning really never stops, does it? It also doesn’t make things less awkward when you all end up in a classroom with a group you’re kinda cool with but also pretty unfamiliar with (The person I am in class is not the same type of person I am outside of it.) Today we really got the chance to learn together from our two professors.

One of my professors told us before that when the previous group had visited India, the first day was pretty awkward for all the students involved. I think I should have realized that this probably wasn’t going to apply to this group that I had grown to love and appreciate. If there was any awkwardness, I think we all got over that very quickly.

Not the strongest sense of subtly

As an American who has had half a brain about the nonsense our country has done in the past and the nonsense that continues today, I can confidently say that our country doesn’t always do the right thing. Americans might not always get the best reputation in other countries but today, I realized there is something that Americans are pretty good at: being subtle.

A personality warmer than a cup of hot tea

6 January 2016

Do you remember those days where you would just spend hours listening to an elder telling stories about their life? I honestly can’t say I do. It’s been years since the last time I just sat down and took in all the weird stories my grandfather would share over dinner or when I was too sick to even watch my regular cartoons with him. But today I can really say that I felt so at home and could have listened to this man go on forever about his stories.
