Awkward beginnings? Nah, I don’t think so.

One of my professors told us before that when the previous group had visited India, the first day was pretty awkward for all the students involved. I think I should have realized that this probably wasn’t going to apply to this group that I had grown to love and appreciate. If there was any awkwardness, I think we all got over that very quickly.

Not the strongest sense of subtly

As an American who has had half a brain about the nonsense our country has done in the past and the nonsense that continues today, I can confidently say that our country doesn’t always do the right thing. Americans might not always get the best reputation in other countries but today, I realized there is something that Americans are pretty good at: being subtle.

A personality warmer than a cup of hot tea

Do you remember those days where you would just spend hours listening to an elder telling stories about their life? I honestly can’t say I do. Benched for the Day.

January 3

…Yeah so remember how I said I would be better for tomorrow after resting? I was absolutely wrong. I’m benched today. Or more accurately, restricted to the confines of my hotel room. Just like almost every year, I get sick shortly after the beginning of the New Year, but I didn’t think it would be while I was in India. This is absolutely lame but I’ve apparently got a fever, I’m still coughing up a lung and don’t even get me started on the sniffles.

So That Was Different.

January 2

History is fascinatingly odd when you really think about it. That an entire way of life used to exist in a place you’re currently located and for some reason the mistakes of the past are something we can’t seem to stop ourselves from repeating rather than learning from. I just think it’s also interesting to see the past told in various different ways through the different tour guides and the honest way the Indian people seem to want to share their story with the world.

Cows everywhere so you don’t have to have one.

December 31

If there’s anything really odd that I’ve noticed other than the alarmingly high number of dogs and casual public urination is the nonchalant nature of the cows just chilling anywhere and everywhere in India. But more over to the point, today was an odd one because I dropped my chapstick (Yes, this is a serious point I’m bringing up) and the struggle bus seems to be calling my name for boarding. Also, I’m writing this at like 5am so if it doesn’t make sense, sorry.
