Cows everywhere so you don’t have to have one.

December 31

If there’s anything really odd that I’ve noticed other than the alarmingly high number of dogs and casual public urination is the nonchalant nature of the cows just chilling anywhere and everywhere in India. But more over to the point, today was an odd one because I dropped my chapstick (Yes, this is a serious point I’m bringing up) and the struggle bus seems to be calling my name for boarding. Also, I’m writing this at like 5am so if it doesn’t make sense, sorry.

Just a little case of culture shock | KATravels

December 30.

So here we are with day 3 and it’s definitely safe to say I’m experiencing a slight amount of culture shock. I’d rather end on a lighter note, so I’ll go to the heavy talks about culture shock before I get to the light and frothy hilarity of recent culture shock. Tomorrow will definitely be lighter and talk more about what we’ve seen and done so far, but this needs to be said.

Traffic game as bad as Times Square during rush hour | KATravels

December 29

So an early start is a lot easier when you just kinda pass out super early with your roommate after you’ve been traveling for almost an entire day. Time zones are completely weird and can be absolutely chaotic on a person’s body but I didn’t understand the benefits of actually trying to screw up your sleep schedule a little bit before any trip. Yay naps!

The Adventure Abroad Begins with a flight! | KATravels

December 28? I’m not actually sure what time it is.

Well, this feels kinda surreal to be honest with you. We’re currently some hundreds of thousands of miles above the sky and I think we might be somewhere over Reykjavik. Our adventure to a different land obviously had to begin with a plane ride. According to my computer it’s approximately a little after 6pm but with time zones and planes, I couldn’t tell you exactly what time it’s supposed to be where I am. I suppose it might do some justice to actually start from the beginning yeah?

If lightning could not strike twice that’d be great.

Okay so it’s finally hitting me. My trip to India is literally days away and the nerves have finally caught up with me. But I’m not nervous about getting to adventure in a country I never thought I’d get the opportunity to learn about more than I did in AP World History. No, I’m actually nervous because of the fact that I’m so excited for this trip.

A hug, a few words and a whole lot of emotions.

I could go on for ages about some long winded analogy about success and drive and the crucial part of being happy with those is yourself and blah blah blah. I’m not going to do that this time. This time I’m just going to be an absolute dork about how happy I am with realizing my work is meaning something.

More than halfway there!

In honor of finally conquering the beast that was senior seminar yesterday, I’m going to take the opportunity to just sit back and appreciate the journey I’ve had in college. And yes, I know it would have made sense for me to post this bunch of mush earlier but celebration with my fellow seniors took precedence and I had mentally checked out around 5pm. Anyway, back to the sappy stuff.

Successful at survival because I’m crap at dying.

***Fair warning, this is absolutely train of thought blogging with hardly any censorship about the topics of anxiety, depression and suicide. Cause honestly when it gets to this topic and this absolutely triggering time of year, the only way I can manage to speak about the chaos that has lived in my mind around this season is through train of thought rambling. Nothing against my loved ones, I just need to write about it so I can try to regain control over my mind without people leaving or distractions popping up. This might make you uncomfortable but that’s okay. This topic isn’t easy. This post isn’t short. But I need to get this sorted.***
